Field Day is less than 10 days away and I hope your club or group is
hard at work with final preparations for Amateur Radio's Open House.
This is your opportunity to showcase your club. Your operating
capabilities with limited space, emergency power, and the many
challenges Murphy and Mother Nature can throw your way.

If your club or group is going out for FD, please take the time to
include it on the FD locator map.

FIVE TIPS TO MAKE YOUR FIELD DAY SUCCESSFUL

1) Everyone invite a friend (licensed or just interested) to join you
at Field Day. Share your passion about the hobby with someone and have
them there!

2) Have someone assigned to greet every visitor to your Field Day
site. The biggest turn-off for that new person is that "no one welcomed
them".

3) Remind your club members to wear their name badges. If you don't
have badges, stop off at a Dollar General store or Office Depot and pick
up some stick-on name tags and a few sharpie markers and offer name tags
to everyone INCLUDING your guests!

4) Remember to monitor your talk-in frequency and listed phone number
right up to the end of Field Day. It's okay to close your station early
because of weather, heat, insects, etc - but make sure someone is
listening even afterwards to let folks know you're not there anymore.

5) Take Pictures! Post on social media, send them to your leadership
team. Pictures of kids operating on Field Day are always heartwarming.
Remember, there are laws to protect children ages 18 and under
from having their pictures posted on social media. Have a few media
release forms just in case. You can print ARRLs here:

You never know who might show up. A City Official, a Section Manager, a
Vice Director, a Director, a Governor, who knows... But if your site is
not listed, none of those folks will know where you are.
